Prospective Agents

University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) works with select international agencies and educational consultants around the globe to represent our campus to prospective students.

Recruitment Agent Application Process

Step 1: Submit an Application

Recruitment partners who are interested in forming a partnership with UMBC to support our recruitment of undergraduate, graduate, and English language students are required to submit an application here.

Partnership proposals for recruitment agents will not be accepted by email. All prospective agent partners must submit the application as the first step to demonstrate interest in working with UMBC.

Step 2: Application Review

UMBC’s International Partnerships & Recruitment team typically reviews agent applications once per year, beginning in the Spring semester. This will ensure that all new partners are fully onboarded by the beginning of Fall term. For new partners, please submit the Agent application by June 1 for best consideration.

Agent Application Timeline

April: Application opens

May – June: Application Review

UMBC reviews all prospective applicants and aims to move forward with partners whose activities will contribute to our institutional enrollment goals. UMBC reserves the right to adjust our review process and criteria for prospective agent partners. Submitting an application does not guarantee a formal recruiting agreement with UMBC.

As part of the application review process, institutional and student references may be checked.

Step 3: Interview

UMBC will extend interview invitations to agents who we believe will be good partner fits. This conversation is aimed to gain a better understanding of your company’s recruiting services, goals, and priorities. All interviews will be conducted at mutually agreeable times via Zoom.

Step 4: Agreement

Agents are formally contracted recruitment partners of UMBC. A template agreement will be provided to the prospective partner for review prior to the signing process. These agreements must be duly agreed upon and signed by official signatories of UMBC (e.g. Provost) and a representative of the agency (e.g. Company Director or CEO).

Step 5: Onboarding

After the Agreement has been signed, UMBC’s International Partnerships & Recruitment team will be in touch with detailed next steps. This can include a partnership launch meeting, admissions training for counselors, and gaining access to our agent recruitment resource portal.  We’re excited to have you on board as a new partner!

Yes, we require all prospective agents to submit institutional reference information to conduct our own outreach and due diligence. Applications submitted without reference information will not be reviewed or approved.

Due to the high volume of inquiries we receive, we are unfortunately unable to accommodate meetings for prospective agents. Please review our international student viewbook and prospective agent flier for highlights about UMBC’s programs, cost, and partnership expectations.
