Visits from International Delegations

UMBC hosts delegations from foreign academic and governmental institutions, and other organizations interested in collaborations that align with our interests and further the mission of UMBC. Visits may be with new or existing partners. Existing partner visits are often focused on the enhancement of existing partnerships. If you are interested in establishing a new partnership, please consult our process for establishing a partnership.

You may reach out to globalpartnerships@umbc.edu with any questions.

The Center for Global Engagement (CGE) can organize international delegation visits for campus units hosting visitors from international higher education institutions, government agencies, or other organizations that have existing partnerships with UMBC or are exploring new ones.
Campus units wishing to work with the CGE on hosting an international delegation visit should complete the Delegation Visit Request form at least 3-4 weeks before the planned visit.
UMBC performs a Restricted Party Screening to confirm that neither the visiting international delegation nor their affiliated institutions are subject to restrictions or prohibitions by the U.S. Government.
Agreement signing ceremonies may be available upon request and should be requested at least 4 weeks in advance. If you would like to inquire about the possibility of a signing ceremony please contact globalpartnerships@umbc.edu.
UMBC’s Center for Global Engagement and Office of the Provost should be included in making decisions regarding campus visits from foreign government officials. UMBC faculty and staff are asked to contact the Center for Global Engagement’s Office of Global Partnerships (globalpartnerships@umbc.edu) prior to responding to an invitation from a foreign official for an official campus visit.
Delegation visits hosted by the Center for Global Engagement (CGE) are usually for international partnership development. Depending on the activity, some visits may be jointly supported by CGE in collaboration with one or more academic departments or other offices.
CGE provides campus tours upon request. You can express in interest in a campus tour when completing the delegation request form.
